MIND Events

2026-2027 MIND Youth Program Event Dates

Our MIND After-School Program for middle school students will be held at Ecker Hill Middle School on select Wednesdays throughout the year. Meetings will be from 3:45-5 pm, with snack time at 3:45 pm. MIND After-School Program is sponsored by PC READS and is not a PCSD-sponsored program. Acceptance into the MIND After-School Program is dependent on space available and prior participants will receive priority.

October 7th: Speak Up
After introductions and icebreakers, MIND Mentors will review the basics of IEPs and 504 Plans. Discussion will be around classroom accommodations and how to self-advocate.

November 4th: Giving Thanks
Students will discuss various ways they receive help and brainstorm on how to show appreciation. All students will write at least one thank you note.

December 2nd: Tech Tools
MIND Mentors will demonstrate popular assistive technology tools including speech to text, text to speech and Learning Ally.

January 13th: Goal Getters
Students will learn about executive functions and set goals for the remainder of the school year in the areas of academics, self-care, sports and/or hobby areas.

February 13th: Our Stories
MIND Mentors will share their stories about being neurodiverse and student participants will begin working on their own.

March 10th: Creative Minds
Discussion will center on creativity, including successful people with dyslexia and/or ADHD. MIND Mentors will play various board games with students, providing students an opportunity to demonstrate strengths in visual spatial skills and strategic thinking.

April 7th: Guest Speaker

May 5th: Looking Ahead
Discussion will center on transitioning to the next grade. Eighth grade students will hear about high school from our MIND Mentors and learn about applying to become a MIND Mentor.
